Muskoka Moment

Artist - Helen Diack

I was lucky enough to have experienced, and to now share this quiet morning with you.

The mist had all but dissipated, and the billowing clouds are dreamily reflected on the glass-like surface of the lake.

Pictured here as a 12 × 16” print, framed with a white mat in a 16 × 20” gold frame.

The Elven Shimmer of Fairy Lake

Artist - Helen Diack

Turning a corner, an ethereal landscape! The meandering tributary, arc of tree, and fluttering foliage beckoned. I can picture Arwen here, in contemplation. Perhaps, like me, you can see yourself quietly meditating in this place?

Being at Anchor

Artist - Helen Diack

Shortlisted for The McMichael Canadian Art Collection’s 2024 En Plein Air Competition.

Exhibited at the McMichael Gallery Canadian Art Collection’s Community Gallery Space in Kleinburg, Ontario, April 17 to August 9th, 2025

Walking on The McMichael grounds after viewing River of Dreams: Impressionism on The St. Lawrence, I found an unfathomable vignette.  Upon reflection, the arrangement of elements clearly shows how humans use technology to alter the nature of landscape, echoing themes in the exhibition’s photographic documentation. The intertwining of logging and shipbuilding is evoked by the juxtaposition of the felled trees and the anchor so firmly planted in their midst.  The textural nature of the tree bark seamlessly weaves into the fibrous striations on the anchor, making them as one, forever interdependent.
